What we do
- A business network of all the Chambers of Commerce and the FSB in East Sussex, we represent over 4,000 local businesses with 18,000 members of staff.
- If you have a business in East Sussex and are a member of one of the town Chambers or the FSB - then you're already a member of ACES. If you are not a member of your local Chamber or the FSB, dip a toe in the water and come and see us.
- We offer major business networking events and conferences and support each local Chamber of Commerce.
- We also work closely with policy makers, including Central Government and County, District and Borough Councils to overcome barriers to business and boost the economy of East Sussex.
- We provide fully funded business support to help you adapt your business to the fast changing environment you are trading in.
- We provide fully funded start-up support for new business entrepreneurs.
Devolution
This is the creation of a Combined Stategic Authority with an elected Mayor covering East, West and Mid Sussex, Brighton & Hove, which the Government is calling 'Sussex and Brighton', although some Sussex Councillors are resisting this name. You may wish to read the Devolution White Paper here. Local Government Reorganisation This is the replacement of East Sussex County Council and the five East Sussex Borough and District Councils with one Unitary Authority. This is to remove the confusion between the responsibilities split between Tier 1 County Councils and Tier 2 Local Authorities. For example, the County Council is responsible for roads, pavements and potholes, while the Boroughs and Districts are resonsible for bins and waste collection, homelessness and housing.
